German President Forced Out

Every now and again a politician does something daft and says what he actually believes, heaping great embarrassment onto the Political Elite, with the outcome being that the culprit has to beat a hasty exit from the political arena.  The latest casualty of Political Correctness PLC is Germany’s President, Horst Koehler.

His utterances were interpreted ( probably by his enemies) as pushing for German military involvement abroad in order to defend ( or extend?) his country’s economic interests.

Naturally there would be not a little disquiet about the thought of goose stepping totalitarians marching across Europe as was the case in 1914 and again in 1939.  Yet if freedom to express views is driven underground and we are left with only people spouting from pamphletts written by bureuacrats that meet official dogma, how do we know who we are voting for?

Granted that President Koehler’s comments might be unpopular with some – possibly the majority – but surely it would be better if he was allowed to be open about his beliefs so that the electorate can decide if he is or not fit for office.

Barry Advised To Remove Troops

What’s in a name?  By their name shall we know them?  President Barack Obama should take American forces out of Afghanistan and Iraq if he wants to reconcile the Muslim world and the West.  So says Obama’s cousin Haryo.

Mr. Soetendro 55, grew up with the President – whom he knew as “Barry” –when he lived in Indonesia for four years during the late 1960s.

The President prepares to leave for a visit to his childhood home next weekend, coinciding with his daughters’ school holidays.
