Brian Haw – never forgotten.
It saddens me to report the news that Brian Haw has died from Lung Cancer.
Brian camped outside of Parliament for ’10 years’ against the War in Iraq and other such events. He has been an inspiration to many. My words will not do justice to the work and conviction he has shown over the years. If you do not know of him please take some time to search and reflect upon his life.
Thank-you Brian – your voice will be missed but not forgotten.

Eviction for Parliament Square, London.
On June 29th (After Mayor of London, Boris Johnson legal action – based around damage that has been caused by the protestors) a High Court judge ruled that peace protesters camping in Parliament Square must ebb evicted by 1600 on Friday.
This has been the dwelling of varied protestors since May and has been dubbed ‘Democracy village’ and it has also been the home for Brian Haw – the now famous anti-war protestor who has been camped there since 2001.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, a High Court Judge said veteran anti-war campaigner Brian Haw, who has lived in Parliament Square since 2001, had been camping lawfully.

When they knock on your door…
The UK has a new Government and with it the rhetoric follows. There is talk of abolishing the national ID card and evaluating CCTV within our society – but be careful not to confuse spin with evidence. Our liberties are more at threat now than ever before.
It was a few days ago now that Brian Haw was arrested for ‘obstructing the Police’. For those who do not know of Brian he has been peacefully and legally protesting against the War in Iraq opposite parliament since 2001.
Thankfully he has just been released upon bail and more information has come to light. From video it can be seen that the police wanted to search Brian’s tent/home. Brian did not open the tent strait away and was then arrested for obstruction. But apparently the police did NOT have a search warrant – so had no powers to search and therefore Brian could not have been “obstructing a police officer in the course of their duty”. This means that Brian was arrested as part of an UNLAWFUL search – yet the BBC fail completely to mention this in their reporting.
Of course this is bad enough but in it mirrors Peters concern in his latest video on Gary McKinnon. This is not just about other people. It is about all of us. For those who even noticed will link Brian’s arrest to the police dealing with demonstrators… rather than feeling outrage at the arrest of an innocent man! So the unlawful search on ‘a man in a tent’ passes people by – but if today one man can be UNLAWFULLY arrested with no repercussions then tomorrow it could be anyone. Maybe it will be your Brother, Sister, Mother, Father… or you.
We’re there because our country is committing infanticide, genocide, the looting of nations. I’m determined to be there until they kill me. How much longer will that be?
