Anonymous Declares War!
The hacker group Anonymous released a video and a statement on October 2nd, effectively declaring war on Wall street.
The activist hacker group plan on taking down the New York Stock Exchange on October 11th, 2011 at 3:30pm EST as part of a “New Civil Rights Movement”.

Mobile Privacy?
An accidentally discovered file on the Apple iPhone, has put privacy advocates in a tither, as it tracks the users location and then saves itself to the phone and the users computer once synced.
While the reason this data file exists probably has more to do with potential software improvements and advertising, than with government snooping. It does make users snap out of their slumber, even if only for a moment or two, and see how wide open our lives have become in this technical age.

The Singularity is near
I’m not entirely sure why, but for the last several days I have been pondering The Singularity, and its possible outcome.
So what’s a Singularity?
The Singularity as postulated by Ray Kurzweil, is a theory that machines will achieve consciousness and become self aware around 2045, and then go on to completely out match humans in every capacity somewhere around 2060. This theory is currently confirmed by everything we know about how reality, conscience and technology functions, all leading to the fact that sentient machines infinitely smarter than us, will start to appear on Earth in about 50 years.

Anonymous Hacks Westboro Baptist Church
Famed Hacker group “Anonymous” who was discussed on Mind Set Podcast Ep.56, has been at it again. The group has posted a “bitchSlap” on the right wing (maniac) Christian web site for the Westboro Baptist Church.
The Westboro Baptist Church has gained world wide media attention for their “God Hates Fags” protests and other hate speech demonstrations. While we can all condemn their message, as it is one that reeks of mental illness on so many levels, we must also support their right to say it.

Internet Down?
The fact that governments can kill the internet, has moved from informed speculation into established fact, as witnessed in the recent events in Egypt. The communication infrastructure that we all use daily, is for the most part owned and maintained by “private” corporations and the government.
If a national security event were to take place, the government could very easily take control of, or completely stop all avenues of communication, limiting incoming and outgoing news.
So how do you communicate if your government decides to pull the plug?
Could Obama Switch Off The Net?
Legislation is already in place to allow US President the authority to ‘shut off’ the Internet in the USA.
It is uncertain what effect this would have on the rest of the world. Or whether it is actually possible that there is a ‘plug’ system available for the authorities to pull.
The fact they are now discussing this in the name of cyber-security is worrying.
