Earthquake UK

quake

Britain prepares for Earthquake disaster – 1 Million Euros during a time when funding is being cut in all sectors.

Recently Gareth reported on the frequency of Earthquakes around the world. What’s most alarming is perhaps the severity of these quakes related to their location. Eg closer to the surface and of large magnitude. One thing is certain, a lot of damage and suffering has resulted from them. Was it coincidence that the poorer areas of Haiti suffered devastation whilst the Islands Eastern side remained largely unaffected?

Often excuses are given – poorer housing, denser populations, ignored warnings etc… Why do I call these things excuses… Because much in the same way if a person shoots another with a gun it could be argued that it was due to them standing in front of the bullet. Of course this implies that these events are not solely ‘an act of God’.

My belief is that weapons have been developed that are capable of triggering these events – that is not the same as saying they were used. If it is true then we would likely see countries who are normally not affected by earthquakes considering/preparing for the chance of attack…

While I’m certain HAARP’s incapable of causing earthquakes, there are a couple of things I found strange about this story:

    a) Most the UK’s major fault lines are up here in mid Wales, and if there’s a serious earthquake, my money’s on an incident there.

    b) I’ve never heard of an earthquake in the UK causing that degree of damage. The most we get are tremors, and possibly a few slates falling off houses.

    c) Wouldn’t it make more sense to spend the funding on preparations for the flooding emergencies that happen pretty much every year?

Now then – is it true to say that by something not happening the odds of it occuring increase..?

    Who commissions these studies?
Why are we warned of how the damage will be more than 100s of years ago but not balanced with our ability to ‘fix’ things much faster too
    One word… fear fear fear
One question – who is to benefit from ‘our’ fear?
