Paranormal

mothman_bookSad news today, as I learned of the death of one of the worlds premier fortean researchers. The legendary John Keel passed away Friday, July 3, 2009, at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, after some months in a nursing home near his Upper West Side apartment.

John Keel was a UFO / Paranormal researcher who was the main investigator in the now famed “Mothman Prophecies” case of the late 1960′s in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. The case which spawned the a book and later movie of the same title, was a masterpiece of high strangeness and brought the MIB (Men in Black) phenomena into popular culture.

Keel’s second book, UFOs: Operation Trojan Horse (1970), that alerted the general public that many aspects of contemporary UFO reports, including humanoid encounters, often paralleled certain ancient folklore and religious encounters. Keel also argued that there is a direct relationship between UFOs and elemental phenomena. Keel informed me often that he did not consider himself a “ufologist,” but a “demonologist.

RIP:  John Keel
