People Still Believe Establishment Political System is Answer

James Traficant

Many probably are not aware of who James Traficant is so let me fill you in as brief as possible.  In 1983 he was the first person to win a RICO (racketeering) while representing himself.  He then knocked out a 3 time incumbent and became a Democrat in the US House of Representatives for almost two decades in Ohio.  Then in 2002 he was indicted for taking campaign funds for personal use.

Traficant again represented himself believing he was set up for getting out of the ’83 charges.  He was expelled from the House and spent his time in jail with no visitors.  He was quickly thrown into solitaire confinement for his first 17 months because the 62-year-old man caused a riot when he told a guard “People can’t hear you. Speak up”.  Traficant has said that he felt he was put in solitaire to “break him” and to show him who was boss.

James was released from prison in September 2009 and began to petition for representing in Ohio as an Independent.  Trafcant’s main focus if reelected into the House was to repeal the 16th Amendment to the Constitution, the one that establishes the income tax.  In his effort the 69-year-old Traficant ended up losing a chance at the ballot due to being 107 signatures short.  Of course there is a little conspiracy here as he lost by 107 after Trumbull County threw out over 1,000 of the petition signatures.

The county says the signatures were invalid for one reason or another but Traficant will be appealing to try to get access to the documents to be verified.

Even when people attempt to use their “power of democracy” there is always ways to bury someone and keep them out of the system and away from being an effective method for the people to take back their government.

Of course the big businesses and the powers that be aren’t going to let someone like him win. They’ll keep changing the rules, invalidating democratic decisions on little technicalities, etc.
