General Sacking Not McChrystal Clear

The resignation of top Afghanistan War General, Stanley McChrystal, has raised more questions than answers.

Why does a man at the top of his profession make such fundamental ( and possibly treasonous) comments to a journalist?

Was McChrystal looking for a personal exit strategy – unlike the alliance who have consistently failed to develop a satisfactory exit plan from either Iraq and now Afghanistan?

Was President Obama intimating that McChrystal was planning a ‘coup d’etat’ by stating that the decision was made for ‘National Security’ reasons, having stated that war is bigger than “…any one man…”

And what next for Stanley McChrystal? A Republican Ticket to run for the Presidency? Or will he now simply disappear and write his memoirs.

And is Obama following the Sri Lanka model – win the peace and take the credit.
Does McChrystal know something we don’t? And was this behind his immense gaffe which has seemingly destroyed his career and public image.
