Earthquakes Blamed On Promiscuity

An Islamic cleric has suggested adultery can cause earthquakes.

Cleric Sedighi of Tehran, Iran, said that tight fitting clothes and showing hair under headscarves is pushing the boundaries of how people can safely dress.  “Many women who do not dress modestly lead young men astray and spread adultery in society which increases earthquakes,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Iranian Government is encouraging people to move out of the capital city to a new purpose built location, Qom.  Seismologists have warned that Tehran sits upon a large number of tectonic fault lines.  In 2003 the city of Bam was hit by a quake, killing 25,000.
