The other day my children spontaneously lept to their feet and starting singing “Ring Around The Rosie” while spinning around in the living room.  As they both ended their song and fell to the ground laughing, I remembered that the origin of the rhyme had something to do with the black death or a plague in the middle ages.

While I refrained from letting my children know my suspected origin off the rhyme, I did make a mental note to confirm this fact later, by searching on the internet.

During my search I was lucky enough to discover a great site that offers the origins of most if not all of childhoods rhymes, and most are very disturbing…
