Snappers in Intimidation Protest

It’s quite obvious that professional photographers across the country are being searched because they are photographers not because they are suspicious. ” So writes Marc Vallee, freelance writer and photographer.

Today, fellow -snappers gathered in Trafalgar Square, London , to protest the abuse of Section 44 of the Terrorism Act 2004. This special stop and search power allows police in specifically designated areas to stop people without suspicion of wrongdoing. Latest figures indicate 36,000 people were stopped under the power between April and June last year.  No figures are available to indicate how many arrests were as a result of these stops.
